"While I was walking, I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and it was the same angel who came to me in [the cave of Ḥirā', sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I was afraid of him, and I returned [home and said, 'Cover me! Cover me!' Then, Allāh the Exalted, revealed: 'O you who covers himself [with a garment; arise and warn!', up to: 'and forsake the idols.' [al-Muddaththir 74:1-5. Then, the revelation came regularly and frequently."

al-Bukhari added: [Yaḥyā ibn Bukayr's narration was supported by 'Abdullah ibn Yūsuf and Abū Ṣāliḥ, and ['Uqayl's narration was supported by Hilāl ibn Raddād, from az-Zuhrī. Both Yūnus and Ma'mar said, "the flesh between his shoulder-joint and neck" [i.e., it was pulsating, rather than his heart beating.
